Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club
The Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club (LCSC) is part of the Michigan state-wide trail grooming network and is a member of the Michigan Snowmobile and Off-Road Vehicle Association (MISORVA) and the Eastern UP Motorized Trail Association (EUPMTA). The MISORVA and EUPMTA work tirelessly to promote and support both snowmobiling and ORV Riding in the State of Michigan.
MISORVA publishes the "MISORVA magazine" and trail status updates - to learn more visit the MISORVA website and/or connect with them on Facebook. The EUPMTA publishes a comprehensive trail map that shows all State sanctioned snowmobile trails in the EUP (East of Munising to Drummond Island) as well as other helpful information. The maps can be found throughout the EUP at many businesses
As a grant sponsor for the statewide trail system, the Club receives a per mile payment from the State Snowmobile and ORV Trail Funds. This money comes from Snow and ORV Trail Permit sales and snowmobile registration/license fees with some Gas Tax funds helping the snowmobile trail fund. No state general fund tax dollars are used for the program in Michigan. This payment to the club helps cover fuel, normal maintenance, insurance, etc., but falls short of covering all the club expenses. Memberships and generous donations round out the funding so that we can continue to offer both Snow and ORV riding in the Les Cheneaux area. All the trail maintenance, equipment support and building maintenance is done by club volunteers and without this exceptional support the club could not exist.
With the funds received LCSC carries out trail signage installation, trail brushing, installing gates onto private property and repairing trails for the coming seasons. The Club is also responsible for acquiring permits for the trail system on private property. 25% of Les Cheneaux snowmobile trails are on private property and an annual payment is normally made to landowners for these permits.
